My stock axle thickness is .188 wall. There were some 9"'s produced OEM with 1/4" wall (F150's) I believe. I have not heard or seen anything thicker than that OEM. The OEM tubes are probably the weak point. The solution for OEM housings is a truss. Currie and Moser both sell trusses to weld on.
