Buy GM panels and repair them. Even if they need some patching and work. They vary as well. I recently finished a car with a GM nose, and the fenders required tweaking and some rewelding for proper fit. Still better than playing wih repro metal. My 67 that wears original GM metal needed no extra work.

I picked up one of these replacement parts: 1968 - 1969 Camaro Rear Window Package Tray Speaker Metal Panel. I thought I could just pop out the old one and put the new one in. But didn't realize these are spot welded. At the prices, I've seen some of the replacement sheet metal going for, would it make sense to repair or replace altogether the metal on the car? From what I see, there are many different sheet metal sources, so.. 1. What company makes the best quality replacement sheet metal for the 71 Camaros? 2. How's the fit? 3.
Domingo I would try and repair as much OEM metal as possible. All of the replacement metal needs help to fit. When term "massaging" new parts is used it refers to prying, pounding on with board and hammering cutting and rewelding. Any replacement sheet metal should be fit up to car one piece at a time instead of completely dismantling car. Anyway, the dents actually creased the cheap crap metal and we couldn't pull them out and decided to just redo the fender. It took some time yes, but wasn't all that bad and I learned a lesson for sure. Thank you for the readouts on the thickness of your pieces, I'm making up my own chart for the future.
