There are many ways to deal with digging or jumping without resorting to using electric shock on the dog.
I had to install an electric fence to try and stop my boxer from jumping the fence. His first encounter was caught on video. It is funny to watch this. Ho.

Oct 18, 2011 #1 I fully agree -- electric fences are not effective with assertive dogs, dogs with a high pain threshold (as Boxers, Pit Bulls, Bulldogs, etc.) or dogs "on a mission" - i.e.: determined to take up a chase for any reason. Thoughts/Experiences re: electric fences?
I have made some inquiries and they sound great, but I have also been told that they don't work so well with boxers, the shock doesn't seem to bother them and they will go right through it. I'm also wondering if it will harm the dog..I know I wouldn't be very happy getting a shock in my neck??Boxer dog Samson used to regularly escape the back yard, but after his owner put up an electric fence he's been traumatised and refuses to go outside. Electric fences? Experiences?
An electric fence works by delivering an electric shock when a dog (or other animal) attempts to cross an established barrier. The shock is intended to correct the behavior and encourage the dog to return to the safety of the yard. I had an invisible fence for my Boxer and it worked great! You can set the strength of the shock and how far you want the warning beep to reach. And yes I tested the shock on myself, so I knew what she would feel.
